Just to be clear: Yes, I know Berlin suppose to be some kind of vegan heaven, but I wouldn’t know because I’ve only been here for a quick weekend (which was very nice and vegan-friendly). But. From my point of view – unlike other vegan destination I’ve been to like Palme de Mallorca or Tel Aviv, the emphasis here is not necessarily on healthy or organic, which is also fine, it’s just different. maybe I’m totally wrong – but that was the vibe I felt…
anyway here are some of the places I visited and like the most…
For your morning/ afternoon coffee: Father Carpenter Coffee Brewers.
this is a charming little cafe in the middle of a GREAT shopping area (so you can have a little rest between swiping your credit card…) It’s in a little yard so you don’t see it from the street, but there is a sign. They have one of the best vegan banana bread I had, plus a freshly squeezed orange juice and a really great coffee too. Address: Münzstraße 21, 10178 Berlin.
For the fancy dinner: Kopps.
Kopps is the kind of a restaurant you can go out at night with your friends. It is kind of “fancy” but the atmosphere is relaxed and the food is just great! Ask for a table next to the window. The night we were there it looked like there was only one waiter, so the service was a little bit slow, but I think the food made up for this. The nice thing is that the menu changes constantly, so you probably won’t eat the same dish twice. I had a nice salad for a starter and Pasta for main (But my friends ordered more ‘creative’ dishes). Adress: Linienstraße 94, 10115 Berlin
For the burger on the go: Frittiersalon.
The best places are the one you discover by mistake, right? In this case, my husband and I were looking for a vegan pizza place, but when I entered the place it didn’t really opened my appetite… So, we tried this place right across the street and it was DELICIOUS. What can I say? Vegan Burger + fries + vegan mayo + homemade lemonade= bliss. Adress: Boxhagener Str. 104, 10245 Berlin
The healthy fast food chain: Dean and David. They have a few branches across the city. this is not an all-vegan place, but they are offering some good options like salad and smoothies and everything is super fresh!
The laid-back: Monsieur Vuong. While you are strolling in Mitte area and Hackescher market you can stop for lunch at Monsieur Vuong. this is not a vegetarian place, but you can order all the dishes with tofu instead of meat. I ordered the soup which was perfect for a chilly afternoon with a glass of ice tea. Adress: Alte Schönhauser Str. 46, 10119 Berlin, Germany
The saviour: Funk you – Natural Food. This was my personal hero on this trip! It was right next to my hotel, inside a shopping center called “Bikini” (a little strange name for a mall but whatever!). when I was hungry and wanted something right now I went to this place (it is an all-vegetarian place) and ordered the vegan wrap which had a lot of fresh vegetables in it. This place also serves pressed juices and smoothies and the bonus: there is a big window watching the zoo – so you can just eat, look at the monkeys and chillax! Adress: Budapester Str. 42-50, 10245 Berlin, Germany
